Nanjing Road Walkway
Folding Pamphlet Design
FINAL WORK

The street where I grew up, Nanjing Road Walkway, is located in the heart of Shanghai. It begins at the Bund in the east and extends westward to the junction of The People’s Square. The architecture along the street is a fascinating blend of distinct European designs from the French Concession era and the sleek, glass-and-steel facades of modern shopping malls. Among these are historic commercial buildings dating back to the early 1920s, standing alongside vibrant billboards, neon signs, digital displays, and lively street vendors, all contributing to the street's dynamic energy.
This street has always been a source of inspiration for me, sparking a desire to capture its day-to-day life through photography. As time inevitably brings change, I also felt a deep urge to document what this street looked like during my childhood, preserving those memories before they fade. Inspired by Ed Ruscha's "Every Building on the Sunset Strip," I created an accordion-style pamphlet to chronicle the street that shaped my early years. This project allowed me to capture the essence of a place so deeply rooted in my identity, offering a glimpse into a world that is both familiar and ever-changing.
