My Slice of Japan
Poster Design
FINAL WORK

My project is a trio of posters that together reflect my journey and connection with Japan, each focusing on a different facet of my experience. I used different forms of paper to create three different collage pieces. The first poster reflects the character of Japan's streets, from quiet village paths to busy urban avenues. It's a patchwork of traditional buildings, retail signs, and public transportation that captures the pace and liveliness of everyday Japan. The second poster is about my love for manga and anime as a kid. I grew up watching my favorite shows and I created a collage piece about the recent Hayao Miyazaki movie, "The Boy and the Heron." This poster celebrates Kyoto’s vibrant blend of tradition and festivity, showcasing red shrine architecture, glowing lanterns, and the energy of Gion’s festivals. It reflects the city’s rich cultural roots and its role as Japan’s spiritual and artistic heart.
